Let him in. He was coming anyway.

Free, no ads, no card. Run the installer and he moves in. Apple or Google is asked once, the first time the app opens. Updates arrive inside the app.

The blue box

Windows will probably warn you. Here’s why, and what to click.

SmartScreen warns about any app from a publisher it hasn’t seen many downloads from yet. It says “unknown publisher”, not “virus”. Signed builds are on the way.

  1. 1. Open the installer. If the blue box appears, click More info.

  2. 2. Check the app name says Desksquattaz, then click Run anyway.

  3. 3. He walks onto your desktop. We put three shortcuts there for him: My Stash, Litterbox, and Cat Bowl.

Only ever download the installer from this website. If a file called Desksquattaz came from anywhere else, don’t run it.

What he touches

A cat on your desk has to be a cat you can trust.

He does

  • Walk around on top of your desktop, in his own window
  • Move desktop icons around, and put them back
  • Use his own folders: My Stash, his food bowl, and his litter box
  • Leave souvenir files from his trips, which you can delete
  • Messages are sent to OpenAI (or DeepSeek for users in mainland China) only to generate replies.

He never

  • Deletes your files or icons
  • Looks at your screen, or inside your apps and documents
  • Shows ads or asks you for API keys
  • Your cat's memory is stored only on your PC.

Not ready to install?

Meet him now. He won’t notice.
